'This November, new printmaking collective the Citizens of Printland, will take over Gallery By The Lakes in Dorchester, Dorset, to present their debut exhibition, Look Up! A Journey Through Printland’.
The Citizens of Print Land are 9 artists based in the South West who share a love of printmaking techniques including Wood Engraving, Linocut and Screenprint, and use these to create vibrant images that celebrate the beauty of our landscape, both in the country and the city.
With an emphasis on exploration, this exhibition showcases the Citizens of Printland’s collective sense of curiosity and experimentation within their respective practices. Alongside work on paper will be a number of sculptural interventions; printmaking that has outgrown its usual two dimensional format and literally leaps from the page, blurring the boundary between print and sculpture.
The group includes Robin Mackenzie, Paul Cleden, Jane Chapman, Jason Pizzey, Rebecca Drury, Rebecca Guyett, Colin Moore, Noah Warnes and Lisa Takahashi. Coming from a mix of Fine Art, Graphic Design and Illustration backgrounds, there has been an intriguing variety of interpretations among the group of the theme of the show. Six Citizens of Printland describe how they have responded to the title, Look Up.'
